Morning Star’s Mission is:
"We are imperfect disciples, walking together to embody Christ’s perfect love in our community.”
Morning Star’s unofficial motto is “It’s a Three Ring Circus”
We extend a special welcome to all those who are in the midst of a real life: No matter how frazzled, uncertain, or not-ready-for-Pinterest or Facebook that life might be.
We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, gay, straight, divorced, widowed, filthy rich, financially comfortable, or dirt poor.
We extend a special welcome to babies who “sing” during prayers, toddlers with the wiggles, and kids still wearing part of their pajamas. We welcome teens - no matter how bored they appear. We welcome folks willing to be pew grandparents to children related by love, if not blood.
We welcome you whether you sing like Michael Buble or mumble quietly to yourself. You are welcome here if you’re church shopping, just woke up, or recently got out of prison. We do not care if you are more Christian than Mother Theresa or haven’t been to church since that Christmas service your grandma dragged you to ten years ago.
We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome keep-fit moms, football dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, home-brewers, service members, vegetarians, hunters, junk-food eaters and NASCAR/SEC/ACC/NFL/HGTV/ESPN8 (the Ocho)/Premier League fans.
We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you are working on some serious stuff in your life, are down in the dumps, or aren’t fond of organized religion. (Trust us, it’s not all that organized but our hearts are in the right place.)
We offer a special welcome to those who don’t know which end is up, work too hard, don’t work, can’t sppell or are here because Mom is in town visiting and thought it’d be nice to go to church.
We welcome those who are inked, pierced, both, or neither. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, are ready to praise the Lord for something wonderful, or had religion/Jesus/expectations shoved down their throat as a kid. We especially welcome those who got confused about inner-outer-east/north-west/south on I-485 and wound up here by chance.
We welcome wandering pilgrims, curious seekers, folks with lots of questions, cynical doubters and YOU!
We make this welcome to YOU, no matter who you might be, because our Heavenly Father welcomed us
into His big, crazy family and that’s a gift we don’t want to keep to ourselves.
