Welcome!

Morning Star’s Mission is:

"We are imperfect disciples, walking together to embody Christ’s perfect love in our community.”

Morning Star’s unofficial motto is “It’s a Three Ring Circus.”  Welcome!

We extend a special welcome to those who are single, divorced, married, widowed, LGBTQIA+, nonbinary or straight.  We welcome you regardless of your skin tone, hair color, or the language spoken at your kitchen table.  We work to be pro-community, anti-racist, pro-relationship, and pro-Jesus; which means you're welcome here.

We extend a special welcome to those who are in the midst of a real life: no matter how frazzled, uncertain, or not-ready-for-posting that life might be.  If you still have a COVID-shaped gap in your life that you’re not sure what to do with, you’re welcome here.

We extend a special welcome to babies who “sing” during prayers and toddlers with the wiggles.  We welcome their parents, too, because they need a bit of peace, even if it’s not always quiet.

We welcome you whether you sing like Michael Buble or mumble quietly to yourself. You are welcome here if you’re church shopping, just woke up, or recently got out of prison.  We do not care if you are more Christian than Mother Theresa or haven’t been to church since that Christmas service your grandma dragged you to ten years ago.

We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast.  We welcome keep-fit moms, football dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, home-brewers, service members, vegetarians, hunters, junk-food eaters and NASCAR/SEC/ACC/NFL/Premier League/ESPN 8 (the Ocho) fans.  We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted.  We welcome those with up to the moment fashion sense or those who jumped off that train in late 20th century.

We welcome you if you are working on some serious stuff in your life, are down in the dumps, or aren’t fond of organized religion.  (Trust us, it’s not all that organized but our hearts are in the right place.)

We offer a special welcome to those who don’t know which end is up, work too hard, don’t work, can’t spelll or are here because Mom is visiting and thought it’d be nice to go to church.

We welcome those who are inked, pierced, both, or neither. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, are ready to praise the Lord for something wonderful, or had religion/ Jesus/expectations shoved down their throat as a kid.  We especially welcome those who got confused about inner-outer-east/north-west/south on I-485 and wound up here by chance.

We welcome wandering pilgrims, comfortable tourists, curious seekers, cynical doubters and YOU!

Morning Star makes this welcome to YOU, just as you are, because our Heavenly Father welcomed

us into His big, crazy family and that’s a gift we don’t want to keep to ourselves.
