Praying Hands

A passionate and motivated group of disciples from the Morning Star, Matthews community have spent the last nine months exploring and wrestling with systemic racism, the continuing trauma that enslavement has caused our nation, and the racial divide that exists in our communities.

In the summer of 2021, Mecklenburg County Commissioners commissioned the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library to engage in research and craft a report on the harm caused by racist policies and practices of our County’s Government from its inception in 1868 to today.  It is important that we understand Charlotte's history and how the past affects us in the present day. We invite you to read the report and to engage in community conversations about its findings.
